Korea's renowned entertainment agency YG Entertainment's CEO/Producer Yang Hyun Suk has been criticized for his harsh remarks towards trainees.
On this week's episode of JTBC 'MIXNINE', Yang Hyun Suk made an appearance as a judge and visited Mole Entertainment to find contestants for the program.
After watching the trainees' group performance, it was revealed that one of the trainees, Kim Sori, previously debuted under a girl group called CocoSori.
Yang Hyun Suk said, "You're kind of old (to be an idol). 28 years old. In terms of idol groups, it's an age when you should consider retirement."
Kim Sori said, "Is it? To me it's just the beginning." and smiled.
When Yang Hyun Suk asked what she has been doing up until now, Kim Sori replied, "I've been a trainee for a long time and debut teams fell apart multiple times. After experiencing all of that, I finally debuted as a group called CocoSori."
Yang Hyun Suk made a harsh remarks, saying, "It failed, right? It failed from the beginning."
Kim Sori admitted and hopefully commented, "But after CocoSori, I also made an appearance at a web drama through Real Girl Project."
However, Yang Hyun Suk interrupted her explanation and said, "Either way, it seems like you're doing a lot of things and nothing is actually working out."
After watching the episode, netizens expressed their displeasure towards producer Yang's remarks.
Netizens left criticizing comments like "It hurts my heart. His remarks were excessive and rude." "She tries to stay positive after all this time. You don't have to be that cruel."
In response to all the criticism, Yang Hyun Suk defended himself with an Instagram post.
He uploaded a video of him with Kim Sori and left hashtags that includes 'I want to say you did well' 'Surprise visit to recording studio last week' 'Criticism is possible only with an interest' 'Judging should be cold-hearted' 'I hope you do well'.
