On December 12, Japanese media company Sponichi Annex reported about Kang Jiyoung's new attempt.

The relevant source said, "Kang Jiyoung will debut as a film director. In three-sequence movie 'When You Wish Upon a Star', she will be directing the first sequence."

She directs movies, writes scripts, divides scenes, as well as finding a place to shoot, directing art and acting. It was told that she managed the whole shooting set. 

Kang Jiyoung's directed sequence will be released via YouTube on January 11 for free. The actress Risaki who plays the main character in the movie said, "Director Kang gave me many bits of advice on how to express my feelings through acting. I learned a lot." 

Kang Jiyoung left her group KARA in 2014 when her contract was terminated with DSPmedia. Since then she has been working actively in Japan as a singer and an actress.
