Korean Stars with Mixed Ethnicity Featured as School Uniform Models and We Love It!
Dec 15, 2017
Recent pictorials for a Korean school uniform brand have been garnering people's attention.
The brand 'Skoolooks' recently revealed their new model lineup―Somi, Han Hyun Min and Joo Haknyeon.
All three are half-Korean, Somi is half Canadian, Han Hyun Min is half Nigerian and Joo Haknyeon is half Hong Kongese.
Han Hyun Min and Joo Haknyeon only have their Korean citizenship, while Somi has citizenship from three different countries―Korea, Canada and Netherlands due to her father's Dutch descent.
As this is the first time for a Korean company to have a full lineup of half-Korean stars as models, netizens are expressing their positive feedback on various online communities.
They commented, "I thought it was for a fashion magazine. It's too cool to be a commercial only for teenagers." "As Korean society is getting more and more multicultural, this is a great stepping stone. I love it!"
Somi has been making appearance on many variety shows even after her group I.O.I's disbandment.
Han Hyun Min debuted as a professional model back in 2016 during Seoul Fashion Week, and he was chosen as TIME's 'The 30 Most Influential Teens of 2017'.
Joo Haknyeon, who garnered fandom via attending 'Produce 101 Season 2' as a contestant, made his debut as a member of boy group THE BOYZ this month.
