Bang Si-hyuk Shares Big Hit Ent.'s Plan to Launch a Girl Group Next Year

K-pop boy groups BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER's management agency Big Hit Entertainment is planning to launch a girl group next year.

On August 13, Big Hit Entertainment conducted a public briefing.
During the briefing, CEO Bang Si-hyuk looked back on the first six months of 2020 when a lot of events were canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bang Si-hyuk said, "BTS' world tour was canceled, so we focused on 'contents' and 'fans'. Thanks to that, we were able to create lots of profit from sales of albums, official merchandise, online concerts and videos."

He continued, "In the first half of 2020, we saw a similar amount of sales as last year. We made a profit of 49.7 billion won (approximately 42 million dollars)."
Then, Bang Si-hyuk proceeded to talk about Big Hit Entertainment's plan for the future.

Bang Si-hyuk said, "Soon enough, a new boy group from our survival show 'I-LAND' will make debut. The members will be selected through the show."

He went on, "I'm also working on to launch a girl group with CBO Min Hee-jin and SOURCE MUSIC. The group is currently planned to be launched next year."
