In the afternoon of September 16, Netflix's mega-successful series 'Squid Game' team, who just returned from attending one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies 'Emmy Awards', held a press conference.
During the press conference, Hwang Dong-hyuk talked about the upcoming second season of 'Squid Game', "My next plan is to shoot the next season of 'Squid Game'. I'm still writing it, but I believe we'll kick off our shooting next year."
He continued, "It's probably going to take about two years from now on; I'm guessing that it'll be out in 2024. I initially planned on working on a movie after 'Squid Game', but I felt like that would make the gap between the first season and second season too wide that I've decided to just get 'Squid Game 2' done first."
He playfully added, "It's actually also because I thought if I postpone the production too much, all actors/actresses, including Lee Jung Jae, would become way too old for it."

Hwang Dong-hyuk commented, "Every character that the viewers loved have died in the series, so I don't really know what to do at the moment. I had no idea that the series would make it this big! I honestly killed them too fast... I'm sorry!"
He resumed, "I really want to make them return from the dead, so I have lots in my head these days. I do want to bring 'Ji-yeong' back to life, but her close friend 'Sae-byeok' has died as well, so... I don't know what to do."

'Ji-yeong' left a lasting impression on many viewers with her friendship and sacrifice for 'Sae-byeok'.
