Lee Young-ae Remembers the Time When She Did Not Like How She Looked

Actress Lee Young-ae opened up about the time in her life when she was unhappy about how she looked.

On November 29, a video interview featuring Lee Young-ae was posted on a fashion magazine's YouTube channel.

The first question Lee Young-ae got was if she would pursue acting if she were born again; the actress smiled and said she would.

"But I'm also interested in becoming a singer. These days, I've been particularly curious about what it would be like to be a K-pop star. Becoming a singer-songwriter would be great, too.", she said, expressing her fascination with music.
When asked which of her works would be the best for showing off her beauty to a new generation, Lee Young-ae said, "I've seen some memes of myself circulating on social media. Most of them were from the projects I've done during my twenties and thirties.", and chose MBC's mega-hit drama 'Jewel in the Palace' (2003).

"The drama was very much loved. I was 33 at that time, and I began to worry about how I looked soon after I turned thirty. My face looked puffy because the drama needed a lot of filming. Also, since I had a hectic schedule during that period, I didn't have time to get facial care. So I basically gave up on looking pretty on camera and just focused on acting while we were filming 'Jewel in the Palace'.", said the actress.
"However, watching the drama lately, I realized how beautiful I was.", she continued, "Before, I didn't even monitor my own scenes because I was unhappy with how I looked. But watching the drama now, I finally realized how beautiful I was. I can't understand why I was so worried about how I looked back then. I came to think that embracing my beauty at any age and appreciating what I have now would be the best way for my mental well-being.", said the actress.

When asked if she would do another historical drama, Lee Young-ae said, "I'd like to try a historical drama that includes battle scenes. I want to play a role where I could wield a sword before getting older."
