Lee Dong Gun Misses His Younger Brother Who Died After Stabbing in Sydney 15 Years Ago
Actor Lee Dong Gun opened up about his younger brother's death for the very first time.

On December 3 episode of SBS' television show 'My Little Old Boy', Lee Dong Gun was seen going to a church where his younger brother Lee Jun-yeop was resting.

The actor's late brother Lee Jun-yeop, who was studying in Sydney, Australia, at the time of his death in March 2008, died after being stabbed.

He and his friend were attacked during an argument with two Chinese gang members near the World Square shopping center in Sydney.

His body was cremated in Sydney about a week after his death, and his ashes were brought back to Korea by Lee Dong Gun afterward.
Lee Dong GunAs it was Lee Jun-yeop's birthday not so long ago, Lee Dong Gun placed a bouquet of flowers and birthday card at his ossuary.

Lee Dong Gun said, "I'm a few days late this year. I'm sorry for coming late for your birthday. Since time stopped you when you were 20, I just can't imagine you being 36 years old."

He also said, "Mom's doing well. I'm taking good care of her. So, don't worry about her," then showed his brother photos and videos of his daughter Ro-ah as well.

After that, Lee Dong Gun just sat in front of his resting brother for ages, repeatedly touching a photo of him.
Lee Dong GunLater, Lee Dong Gun met up with his mother; together, they carefully spoke about Lee Jun-yeop's sudden death.

Lee Dong Gun stated, "After receiving the call from Sydney, I felt devastated. But I only felt devastated for about five seconds, because I was worried about you and dad. I was so busy making sure you two were okay that I didn't even have the time to feel my own sadness until after Jun-yeop's funeral."

He continued, "We got on the plane to Sydney right away, like only three hours after getting that call. When we got there, I had no choice but to ask for his body to be cremated. It really broke my heart to see my angelic brother turning into ashes. But I kept him on my lap throughout my flight back to Seoul, and that was really meaningful to me."
Lee Dong GunThen, Lee Dong Gun remembered his last memories with his brother, "Just before Jun-yeop left this world, he stayed at my house for a month while he was in Korea. That was unusual, as he usually stayed at our family home during his stay. We made such great memories then."

He continued, "About a week after he went back to Sydney, he called me, sounding all emotional. I asked if everything was okay, he was like, 'I just wanted to say that I love you, hyung.' Until then, I had never told him that I loved him, even though I very much did. Back then, I replied, 'I love you lots, too.'"

Wrapping up the talk, he added, "I feel like he ensured that I didn't have any regrets following his death. He was a true angel. If I didn't have those last memories with him, a month together and that call, I would have hated myself."; his words made his mother tear up.
