On November 22, DOWOON appeared as a guest on Kim Jong-min of group Koyote's YouTube show.
Since his debut, DOWOON has consistently named Kim Jong-min as his role model. This was the first time the two had met and had a conversation.
Regarding why he considered him a role model, DOWOON replied, "When I was younger, my mom didn't think I had a clear direction for my future. She told me to pick a role model, so I thought about who that could be. Then, I turned on the TV, and there you were."
He continued, "You were smiling so brightly, and it was such an uplifting smile. From that moment on, you became my role model. I wanted to be as pure-hearted as you."
Mentioning this, Kim Jong-min commented that he believes DAY6 is now at the peak of their popularity.
DOWOON said, "I do feel like we are being loved a lot, and I'm so thankful for all this. But there's also a bit of pressure."
Kim Jong-min asked, "Has anything changed now that you're doing well? Or has something changed in your daily life?"
DOWOON explained, "What's definitely changed is how much money I make. That has efinitely gone up."
When asked about his income during his early debut days, DOWOON reminisced, "In the beginning, I earned about 30,000 won (approximately 21 dollars) a month. If there was a music festival and they could fit us in between other performances, we'd go and perform. Things weren't easy for us back then. We'd buy some fried chicken and joke, 'Oh, we've spent our entire monthly income!'"
In response to the question, "What’s the biggest purchase you've made with your earnings after the band's success?" DOWOON revealed, "I bought a car for my mom. She was driving an old car, and I was worried about it. So,I bought her a new car."
