Actress Park Bo Young opened up about her concerns regarding her mostly romantic comedy career and how she let those worries go.
On November 28, actress Kim Min Ha, Park Bo Young, and Seolhyun of Disney+'s upcoming television series 'Light Shop' guested on producer Na Young-seok's YouTube channel.
During their conversation, Park Bo Young talked about how she used to be concerned that most of her projects were romantic comedies.
"I've worked on so many romantic comedies so far.", she remarked.
Before Park Bo Young continued, Na Young-seok could not help but jump in to share how much of a fan he is of the actress' talent in the genre.
"You're an amazing romantic comedy actor! You're absolutely adorable in those! We need you in romantic comedies! Don't you ever say you're sick of it, okay?", Na Young-seok exclaimed.
Park Bo Young laughed and said, "But the viewers might get sick of it."
Park Bo Young resumed, "I thought about it a lot. Sometimes it felt like I was repeating the same gig without evolving. And there was a time I wondered if I should explore new paths."
"Everyone would agree that there are things you want to do and then the things you are good at. The two can be separate things.", the actress stated.
"Since many people want me to stay in what I do best, I keep getting offered similar projects. That cycle made me feel like options are getting narrower for me."
"Having these concerns for a long time, I had this rush of feeling that I should present other sides of me as soon as possible.", Park Bo Young added.
However, Park Bo Young said advice from veteran actress Kim Hae-sook changed her mind.
"When I shared these worries with Kim Hae-sook sunbae-nim, she said, 'Why rush to show every card you have? Show what you're good at all through, even if some say they got sick of it.'."
Park Bo Young continued, "She told me to wait until people certainly don't want any more of it, that it won't be late even so. When that moment comes, I can present other cards and say, 'You know what? I can do this and that as well.'."
"Since then, I decided not to rush to show other sides of me. Now I think that if people still want certain kinds of acting from me, I should do it when I still can.", the actress concluded.
