On December 2, Tao updated his Weibo, saying, "Goal achieved," alongside several photos.
In the photos, 31-year-old Tao and 27-year-old Xu Yiyang posed together while holding their marriage certificates, which are issued in China upon registering a marriage.
On the same day, Xu Yiyang also posted a photo of them holding their marriage certificates on her Weibo, and shared, "I wanted to date with marriage as the goal."

Although they were frequently spotted together on "dates," they consistently denied being in a relationship.
Speculation flared up again on Valentine's Day last year when the two were spotted together, followed by the sighting of a custom banner reading "Love u Yi YANG" displayed on a large screen at a popular nightclub in Seoul while Tao was visiting Korea.

Xu Yiyang is currently signed under Tao's newly established label.
She previously trained under SM Entertainment, aspiring to join the K-pop industry, but returned to China in 2018 after leaving the agency.
