"My Mom Passed When I Was 4" Choi Daniel Shares How He Grew Up amid Financial Struggles
Actor Choi Daniel shared a heartbreaking family story.

On December 27, actress Jeon So Min guested on the fourth episode of Choi Daniel's YouTube show "ChoiDa Cheese."

While speaking about their parents, Choi Daniel revealed that he lost his mother at the age of four.

Choi Daniel told Jeon So Min, "My mother passed away when I was four years old. My older brother is six years older than me, so he was in elementary school then. Our father raised us on his own."

He continued, "My father was always busy working to provide us with the basics we needed to get by. I started working at an early age and moved out when I was 20, which meant I had fewer chances to express my feelings to him. I wasn't very good at opening up back then, but I've been making more of an effort as I've grown older."

He went on, "My high school summer uniform was white, and I only had one. I hated playing outside in it because if it got stained, it wouldn't have anything to wear the next day."

He recalled, "We had lunch in the classroom, and one time I was eating with a friend nicknamed 'potato.' We sat across from each other at a desk, joking around while eating, and 'potato' accidentally splashed soy sauce from a soy-braised potato dish onto me. I was so upset that we had a big fight over it. That's how much I valued my uniform."

His story made Jeon So Min feel sad, as she empathized with the struggles he went through.
