Son Yeon-jae Recalls Being Shocked upon Finding Out Her Husband Was Born in the '80s

1994-born former rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae shared how she met and married her husband, a financier nine years older than her.

On February 5, Son Yeon-jae appeared as a guest on singer K.Will's YouTube show. 

Now in her third year of marriage, Son Yeon-jae said, "A lot has happened in the last three years—I got married, had a baby, and so many other things. This is actually my first time being part of a show since marriage." 

She continued, "While I was dating my husband, it was reported that I had dated him for four months. But we'd been together longer than that. Four months was just how long it had been since people discovered it. Since marriage takes a lot of planning and you never really know how things will go, I wanted to announce it on my own terms, but articles came out before I could say anything." 

She added, "We originally booked a wedding venue for December, about a year into our relationship, but there was a cancellation, so we ended up getting married in the summer instead. People kept asking if something had happened because of the date change." 
Talking about her husband, Son Yeon-jae said, "I run a rhythmic gymnastics studio and also teach adults. A couple offered to introduce me to my husband. But when they told me he was born in 1985, I was so surprised that I gasped. I mean, I had never dated anyone from the '80s before!"

At first, Son Yeon-jae explained that she was not interested in meeting him, but she eventually decided to give it a chance. 

"I didn't know his name or what he looked like—just that he was born in 1985. The couple set us up, and when I first met him, I didn't think much of it. He didn't really talk to me. But two weeks later, he reached out and asked me out to dinner, and after that, we kept seeing each other." 
 
Son Yeon-jae married her husband in Auguest 2022, and they welcomed their son in February last year.
