The reason behind this 'bread pilgrimage' craze is to taste the signature menu items that can only be found at these bakeries. While many bakeries used to display a wide variety of breads, now local bakeries are thriving by focusing on a single standout item.
Some bakers spend three days kneading dough to create their signature loaves, while others bake sourdough using starter cultures brought directly from San Francisco. Even the classic French croissant has been reimagined to suit the tastes and preferences of the Korean palate. The struggles and efforts of bakers who pour their individuality and stories into their creations will be showcased.
A 'Baguette Competition' has also been held, where bakers compete solely with baguettes. A staggering 100 baguettes were submitted. Although made from just four ingredients―flour, water, salt, and yeast―the taste and flavor can vary dramatically depending on who kneads and bakes them. Viewers will be left wondering which baguette will take home the top prize among the 100 unique entries.
Additionally, there is a 'Bread Festival' that attracted 140,000 visitors. Over 80 bakeries competed to win the hearts of attendees from all over the country. Which bakery will claim the title for having the most popular signature menu item?
