Paik Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, issued an official apology regarding the controversy over the mislabeling of origin in the company's food production, calling it an "unacceptable mistake."

On March 13, Paik Jong-won posted an apology on The Born Korea's official website, stating, "I sincerely apologize for the concerns caused by various issues related to The Born Korea, where I serve as CEO. I feel a deep sense of responsibility."

He continued, "We should have met the expectations of those who love and support us with better products and services, but we fell short in many areas. I deeply reflect on the unacceptable mistakes made during the production and distribution processes."

Paik Jong-won emphasized, "I humbly accept the criticism directed at me and promise to promptly address all issues, including legal matters. Furthermore, as a publicly listed company, we will drive company-wide innovation and growth to meet the expectations of our shareholders."

Previously, there were allegations that The Born Korea's products violated origin labeling laws. Despite being marketed as domestic, the ingredient labels indicated the use of Chinese fermented soybean paste, soybeans from the U.S., Canada, and Australia, and flour from the U.S. and Australia, sparking controversy.

It has been reported that the Seoul Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service has initiated a criminal investigation into two cases of origin labeling law violations involving Paik Jong-won.
