Actor Kim Soo-hyun's agency has confirmed the actor's past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, but clarified the timeline. They also refuted claims regarding the timing of photos that sparked rumors of a relationship during her minor years, stating they are "not true."
On the afternoon of March 14, Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, explained that they released their statement earlier than the previously announced "sometime next week" due to Kim Soo-hyun's mental state.
The agency stated, "Early this morning, Kim Soo-hyun showed signs of severe psychological instability, and we have taken measures to ensure his absolute rest and stability."
They further explained that the urgency to correct the facts was also due to suspicious activities observed near their office recently. The agency shared, "On the night of the 12th, after a broadcast by Hover Lab, a vehicle with a person holding a camera was stationed across from our office entrance and in the parking lot until dawn. On the 13th, around lunchtime, people with cameras were seen loitering around the building, causing ongoing psychological pressure on Kim Soo-hyun."
Through their statement, Gold Medalist admitted for the first time that Kim Soo-hyun had dated Kim Sae-ron in the past. But they also clearly stated the timeline of their relationship, countering the "dating rumor during her minor years."
The agency clarified, "Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron dated from the summer of 2019, after Kim Sae-ron became an adult, until the fall of 2020," emphasizing that "the claim that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor is not true."
Regarding the photos posted by Hover Lab, they argued that the T-shirt Kim Sae-ron was wearing was released after she became an adult, thus the photos were taken after the release.
Gold Medalist stated, "The two photos released by Hover Lab (one shared on the late Kim Sae-ron's Instagram story on March 24, 2024, and another from a Hover Lab broadcast on March 11, 2025) were both taken on the same day during their relationship in the winter of 2020." They added, "The T-shirt Kim Sae-ron wore in the photos were released in June 2019, making Hover Lab's claim that the photos were taken in 2016, when she was a minor, impossible."
Additionally, regarding another photo released by Hover Lab on March 12, 2025, they explained, "That photo was taken on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019, and we have the metadata for this photo. The photo released on March 13 was also taken on the same day, as evidenced by the same outfit." They emphasized, "All the photos Hover Lab used to claim that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron during her minor years were actually taken after she became an adult. The repeatedly claimed 'photo from 2016' does not exist because they were not dating at that time."
Regarding a letter from Kim Soo-hyun's military service released by Hover Lab, they explained, "It was one of the letters that Kim Soo-hyun sent to all his close acquaintances," adding, "As seen in the letter, Kim Soo-hyun was adjusting to military life and often wrote detailed accounts of his daily life in the military to his friends. The expression of 'missing' them was a light-hearted remark made to close friends during his service."
The agency then went on to say, "Due to Hover Lab's report, numerous false and misleading information is spreading as if it were true." They added, "The informant who appeared on Hover Lab and made numerous false claims alleged to be a family member of Kim Sae-ron. However, according to a media report, the person is in fact a friend of Kim Sae-ron's mother. They are distorting facts based on a few photos from an informant whose identity is not even clear, without verifying with the involved parties, thus generating rumors."
They continued, "The extremely personal lives of the two individuals are being forcibly exposed by others, causing immense pain not only to Kim Soo-hyun but also to the late Kim Sae-ron's personal life, which is being spread with numerous rumors and speculations, affecting those around them as well," reiterating the emotional distress Kim Soo-hyun is experiencing.
