"Ready to Become the Next IU?" SBS Teams Up with SM Ent. to Launch Mega Audition 'The Ballad'
Our BalladThis fall, SBS is set to launch a mega audition project titled 'The Ballad.'

'The Ballad' is a new music audition show from SBS, the renowned audition powerhouse that discovered talents like AKMU, Jung Seung-hwan, BIBI, and Car, the Garden through shows like 'K-Pop Star' and 'The Fan.' This large-scale project is a collaboration with SM Entertainment, a leader in setting K-POP standards globally, and SM C&C, a top cultural content and management company in Korea.

'The Ballad' aims to go beyond the traditional ballad genre, seeking fresh voices from the 10s and 20s age group who can represent the current era, from legends like Lee Moon-se to IU. The show will gather iconic songs from Korean pop music and feature performances where new artists reinterpret these classics, aiming to evoke the ballad sentiment that resonates with all Koreans.

As one of the most anticipated projects of the latter half of the year, the members of the production team is also drawing attention. Director Jung Ik-seung, known for his work on major SBS auditions and music shows like 'K-Pop Star,' 'The Fan,' and 'Gayo Daejeon,' teams up with writer Mo Eun-seol, who showcased her unique writing skills in the 2024 Netflix global hit 'Culinary Class Wars.' Together, they promise a fresh music audition experience. With the full support and expertise of global entertainment giants SM Entertainment and SM C&C, the show is set to deliver a weekly lineup of legendary song battles that will touch the hearts of music fans.

'The Ballad' is now accepting applications for participants eager to take on this challenge. Interested individuals can apply through the official SBS website starting from March 17.
