In the episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Buried Hearts' aired on the 12th, Seo Dong-joo's journey of revenge, which left him with nothing, was depicted.
In this episode, Seo Dong-joo visited Wa Young-jae, the home of Yeom Jang-seon. Yeom Jang-seon's wife had expressed her desire to serve him a meal.
Reflecting on Seo Dong-joo's childhood visits to the house, Yeom Jang-seon's wife reminisced, "Seong-hyun really loved this traditional house. He used to say he'd visit his dad when his mom returned, but who knew it would take so long?" she said with a hint of sadness.
She then handed Seo Dong-joo a photo of Seong-hyun, saying, "I wish I could tell you everything about how much your mom cherished and loved Seong-hyun, or rather, Director Seo. But time is short. Just remember this: your mom almost took a wrong path because of financial struggles while raising you alone. But thinking of you, she refused. That's the kind of mother you had. When life gets tough, remember what I told you about your mom and find strength, Director Seo," she conveyed warmly.
With a heavy heart, Seo Dong-joo sought out Yeom Jang-seon, who had been kidnapped and held behind Chairman Cha Kang-cheon's safe.
After being imprisoned for a year, Yeom Jang-seon told Seo Dong-joo, "You want money, right? You said my life wasn't worth taking. Remember the big building where you were waterboarded? I'll give it to you if you let me go." Seo Dong-joo remained silent. Yeom Jang-seon then asked what he truly wanted and how much it would take.
Seo Dong-joo replied, "All of Yeom's assets. Everything Heo Il-do and Yeom Jang-seon have, I will take it all. Since the moment I was shot by Heo Il-do, my goal has never changed." Yeom Jang-seon retorted, "I'd rather bite my tongue and die here than give you everything. You won't get a thing." He was furious.
However, Seo Dong-joo, unfazed, responded in a way Yeom Jang-seon didn't expect, prompting Yeom to call him back.
Seo Dong-joo revealed he had a file neatly organizing the corruption of the president and everyone associated with him, found on Yeom Jang-seon's computer.
He warned, "If you or Daesan Group threaten me, that corruption will be exposed to the world," pressuring the president.
Ultimately, Yeom Jang-seon agreed to give up everything he had and was released. Seo Dong-joo, having completed his revenge, shed tears of emptiness, evoking sympathy.
Seo Dong-joo decided to leave, handing over the password to the safe containing Daesan's slush funds to Yeo Eun-nam, who agreed to let him go.
Freed from captivity, Yeom Jang-seon lost everything and faced the consequences of his actions.
Additionally, Ji Seon-woo killed Cha Deok-hee's son, Heo Tae-yoon. In the end, only Ji Young-soo and Ji Seon-woo remained by Cha Kang-cheon's side, while Cha Deok-hee lost her mind after losing her son.
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-joo scattered Heo Il-do's ashes into the sea, fulfilling his last wish. In his hand was the gun Heo Il-do had used to shoot him, leaving viewers to ponder what final decision he might have made.
