The court has dismissed an appeal filed by the five members of the group NewJeans against their agency, which sought to prevent the enforcement of a previous injunction related to their management and advertising contracts.
On the 16th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, led by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, ruled against the appeal submitted by the NewJeans members.
Last month, on the 21st, the court had accepted an injunction request from their agency, ADOR, which sought to maintain its management rights and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. This decision has now extended the period during which NewJeans will be unable to perform.
Two days after the initial ruling, on the 23rd, the members of NewJeans addressed their fans during a performance in Hong Kong, stating, "We have decided to comply with the court's decision and halt all activities. It wasn't an easy choice, but it's necessary for us at this time," they said, visibly emotional.
The five members of NewJeans are currently involved in a separate legal battle to confirm the validity of their exclusive contracts with the agency.
