The film 'Virus', starring Bae Doona and Kim Yoon-seok, has made its debut at 5th place in the box office.

According to the integrated computer network of the Korean Film Council on May 8th, 'Virus' attracted 11,453 viewers nationwide on its opening day, May 7th, landing it in 5th place at the box office.

'Virus' tells the unexpected journey of 'Taek-sun', who becomes infected with a deadly virus that causes people to fall in love without reason. He is joined by 'Soo-pil', a forever-single researcher, 'Yeon-woo', a long-time school friend, and 'Lee-gyun', the only expert who can develop a cure. The film is directed by Kang Yi-kwan, known for 'Sa-Kwa' and 'Juvenile Offender', and features Bae Doona, Kim Yoon-seok, and Jang Ki-ha among its cast.

The movie, which completed filming in 2019, saw its release delayed due to COVID-19 and a downturn in the film industry, finally seeing the light of day after six long years.

Despite hopes that it would overcome its image as a "warehouse movie" and win over audiences, 'Virus' recorded somewhat disappointing results on its first day, overshadowed by competitors such as 'Yadang: The Snitch', 'A Minecraft Movie', and 'Holy Night: Demon Hunters'.
