Hwang Chun-mei, the mother of the late Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo's mother-in-law, shared a family photo on her social media account on the 12th.
Barbie Hsu's mother expressed, "This Mother's Day was heart-wrenching," adding, "My son-in-law, DJ Koo, is grieving for Hee-won and is becoming increasingly gaunt."
Indeed, DJ Koo looks significantly thinner in the family photo that was shared. Dressed in a black hat and black T-shirt, his noticeably thinner neck is a stark indication of his weight loss. Previously, local Taiwanese media reported that DJ Koo had lost over 12kg following Barbie Hsu's funeral in March, to the point of being unrecognizable.
Barbie Hsu's mother also shared, "My daughter Dee Hsu wanted to hear congratulations, so I asked a colleague to create an AI video of my departed daughter," expressing gratitude for the warm support and remembrance from many celebrity friends and the public. "I'm truly thankful. I will stay strong," she said.
Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu made her debut in 1994 with her sister Dee Hsu as part of the group 'SOS' and gained fame across Asia as the lead actress in the Taiwanese version of 'Boys Over Flowers' in 2001. Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo, who were lovers for about a year in 1998, rekindled their romance after more than 20 years apart following Barbie Hsu's divorce from her previous husband, capturing the public's attention with their movie-like love story.
The couple officially tied the knot with a marriage registration in February 2022 and had been sharing their blissful married life publicly. However, Barbie Hsu passed away suddenly from pneumonia accompanied by the flu during a trip to Japan in February.
