Director Jang Jae-hyun, known for 'Exhuma', made a surprising cameo in the film 'Big Deal', catching everyone's attention.
On the afternoon of the 29th, a press screening for 'Big Deal' was held at CGV in Yongsan, Seoul. The film, based on a true story, captivated the audience, and a familiar face in the latter half brought unexpected laughter.
It was none other than director Jang Jae-hyun. Jang made an appearance as a journalist, delivering a line to Lee Je-hoon's character, In-beom, saying, "Let's have an interview sometime." Though his performance lasted only about 3 seconds, his unexpected appearance made the screening buzz with excitement.
Jang Jae-hyun's cameo happened on the spur of the moment. At a press conference, Lee Je-hoon shared, "Director Jang Jae-hyun came to visit the set to see Yoo Hae-jin and ended up being offered a role as a journalist. He agreed to do it, and we were all surprised at how naturally he pulled it off. It's a fond memory."
Director Jang Jae-hyun previously worked with Yoo Hae-jin on 'Exhuma'. Moreover, 'Big Deal' is a new project from Showbox, the investment and distribution company behind 'Exhuma', which likely facilitated this natural cameo.
'Big Deal' tells the gripping tale of the 1997 IMF financial crisis, focusing on Jong-rok, a finance director for whom the soju company is his life, and In-beom, a global investment firm employee who only cares about results, as they stake the fate of Korea's beloved soju in their battle. Lee Je-hoon and Yoo Hae-jin lead the cast.
The film is set to premiere on the 30th.
