According to Hanteo Chart, a site that tallies album sales, SEVENTEEN's 5th full album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY' sold a total of 2,521,208 copies in its first week (May 26th to June 1st), securing the top spot on the weekly album chart. This marks the highest figure for any K-Pop album released this year.
On the day of their comeback, they became the first K-Pop act of the year to achieve double million seller status, adding another significant record to their name and showcasing their status as a top K-Pop group. SEVENTEEN is known for continuing to increase their album sales even after the initial counting period, raising expectations for their future achievements.
'HAPPY BURSTDAY' has been dominating both domestic and international album charts. Right after its release, it shot to number one on Hanteo's daily album chart and the 'Worldwide iTunes Album' chart, and maintained the top spot on Japan's Oricon 'Daily Album Ranking' for five consecutive days (May 27th to 31st). In China, it topped the QQ Music daily and weekly 'Digital Bestseller Album' overall category and received the 'Diamond Album Certification' for surpassing 5 million yuan in sales.
The title track 'THUNDER' has also been a hit. It secured the top spot on the Bugs daily chart for two consecutive days (May 30th to 31st) and has been a fixture in the top ranks of Melon's 'Top 100', known for its stable ranking changes, dubbed as the 'concrete chart'. Given the positive online response to the 'THUNDER' performance showcased on music shows, the song's chart performance is expected to gain further momentum.
Beyond their music, SEVENTEEN has also demonstrated significant influence in the global concert market. According to a mid-year report released by Billboard, they generated approximately $120.9 million in ticket sales from October 1st last year to March 31st this year. This ranks them third among artists worldwide and sets a new record for K-Pop artists.
