'Fan Assault Controversy' KOALA Admits Wrongdoing & Publicly Apologizes; Jessi Not Charged

Rapper KOALA, who was sued for allegedly assaulting a fan of singer Jessi, has publicly apologized after the case was concluded.

On the 4th, KOALA posted a handwritten apology on his social media, stating, "I sincerely apologize to the victim and their family. I wanted to apologize in person, but I fully understand their desire not to face me directly. They had no reason to go through such an ordeal, and I deeply regret the pain I caused. I also apologize to anyone else who was indirectly affected by this incident." He bowed his head in remorse.

He continued, "I am aware that I have disappointed many people, and I take full responsibility for my actions. The incident was undoubtedly my fault. Although I was not the first to resort to violence, one of our group did, and I played a significant role in exacerbating the situation through a simple misunderstanding and poor judgment. The situation should never have escalated to this point, and that is entirely my fault. I have accepted the consequences and have been living with the responsibility ever since."

"Facing this process was not easy, but it allowed me time to reflect and grow. There are no excuses or blaming others, only lessons learned. I am quietly and earnestly working on becoming a better person," he emphasized, expressing his commitment to improvement.

Previously, Jessi and KOALA, among others, were involved in a physical altercation with a minor male fan who approached them for a photo during a conversation in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, last August. CCTV footage captured a Taiwanese man from their group assaulting the fan, leading to controversy when it was revealed that the Taiwanese man had left the country.

Jessi was accused of assault and aiding in the escape of a criminal but was not charged by the police.
