On the 9th, MBN reported that the Seoul Gangnam Police Station is investigating Lee Kyung-kyu for a violation of the Road Traffic Act.
According to the report, Lee Kyung-kyu visited an indoor golf range in Gangnam District, Seoul, around 2:05 PM on the 8th. Due to a parking attendant's mistake, he ended up driving a car identical to his own foreign brand vehicle back to his company.
The actual owner of the car suspected it was stolen and reported it to the police, who then conducted an investigation on Lee Kyung-kyu. Although Lee tested negative for alcohol, a preliminary drug test indicated a positive result. Lee argued to the police that he had only taken medication prescribed to him, feeling wronged by the situation.
Following the incident's publicity, Lee Kyung-kyu expressed his frustration in a phone interview with Sports Donga, saying, "I was just driving after taking medicine for a cold and body aches. I explained to the police that it was just cold medicine, and the issue was resolved." He was particularly concerned about the misleading headlines regarding 'drug use,' stating, "The way it's being reported could lead to misunderstandings," voicing his frustration.
