Set to premiere on the 13th (Friday) at 9:50 PM, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Our Movie' (written by Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min, directed by Lee Jung-heum) unveiled a 3-minute highlight reel on its official YouTube channel last 10th. 'Our Movie' tells the urgent love story of a director, Lee Je-ha (played by Namkoong Min), who has no tomorrow, and an actress, Lee Da-eum (played by Jeon Yeo-been), who lives as if today is her last.
The released video starts with Lee Da-eum's anxious question about whether they can complete the movie, to which Lee Je-ha responds, "We have to. We will." This single scene hints at the numerous challenges they will face from the moment they decide to make a movie together.
As the video progresses, what seems like an ordinary conversation about dreams reveals the desperate plea of Lee Da-eum, "Director, even if it hurts. I watch movies, go to auditions, and fall in love. So, I can make a movie." This highlights that the starting line for their movie is unlike any other, involving the risky decision to cast an actress with a real-life terminal diagnosis in a role that mirrors her situation.
Especially, facing a lonely journey with no one to side with them, movie producer Boo Seung-won (played by Seo Hyun-woo) harbors doubts about Lee Da-eum's potential. In contrast, Lee Je-ha dismisses these doubts, showing strong confidence in his chosen actress by stating, "We have something they don't."
Meanwhile, Lee Da-eum stands firm against her father, Lee Jung-hyo (played by Kwon Hae-hyo), who opposes her filming. Her declaration to live fully in half the time rather than lying in a hospital bed for a year leaves her father speechless. Lee Jung-hyo, unable to persuade his stubborn daughter, confronts director Lee Je-ha, asking, "Do you find it amusing to have a terminally ill patient act out a terminal role?" Furthermore, actress Chae Seo-young (played by Lee Seol) bluntly criticizes Lee Je-ha, adding to the adversity faced by the duo.
Despite these obstacles, Lee Je-ha and Lee Da-eum show a deepening of emotions and changes both on and off camera. The sight of the two throwing everything into their movie, facing a predetermined end, touches the heartstrings. Particularly, Lee Je-ha's final words, "Ms. Lee, can't you live?" adds a poignant touch.
Thus, the highlight reel of 'Our Movie' resonates with the brilliant and shining courage of Lee Je-ha and Lee Da-eum, who strive to complete their project against all opposition. It leaves one wondering if they will indeed be able to finish the movie as determinedly as Lee Je-ha's response suggests.
'Our Movie' will follow 'The Haunted Palace' and premiere on the 13th (Friday) at 9:50 PM.
