On the 11th, SBS's 'Kick a Goal' featured the Group B preliminary round of the G League between Balladream and Wonder Women.
Before the match, Balladream set their sights on breaking Wonder Women's streak of clean sheets. Wonder Women, having lost all previous matches to Balladream, vowed to win this time, with Mashima confidently stating, "I'll bring us our first victory."
As expected, the first goal was scored by Wonder Women. Just one minute into the game, goalkeeper KISUM joined the attack and found the net, giving her team a smooth start. Coach Jo Jae-jin couldn't hide his smile at the promising beginning.
Balladream immediately put pressure on Mashima, with Jung Ye-won, born in '97 just like Mashima, drawing admiration for her tenacious defense.
Despite this, Mashima orchestrated the defense across the field, causing Balladream to struggle to display their usual skill level.
Eventually, Mashima scored a wonder goal five minutes before the half, putting Wonder Women ahead 2-0. The high-quality goal had the coaches remarking, "That's a Premier League goal. You'd only see that in the EPL," in awe.
Wonder Women seemed flawless, but Balladream did not give up. They encouraged each other to fight for victory, with Kyung Seo saying, "We don't need to play beautiful soccer, just win," rallying her teammates.
However, luck wasn't on Balladream's side as their shots either hit the post or were blocked by the defense.
Still, Balladream continued to create chances and gradually shifted the momentum in their favor. Coach Jo Jae-jin adjusted his tactics in an attempt to turn the game around.
Other team coaches noticed, "Coach Jo Jae-jin is showing his frustrated side. He briefly lost his temper," sensing that the game wasn't going as Wonder Women had planned.
Finally, Balladream's efforts paid off. Just before the end of the first half, Jung Ye-won scored, narrowing the gap.
The play from Kyung Seo to Seogi, and then to Jung Ye-won, was picture-perfect, leading to their first goal.
At halftime, Coach Jo Jae-jin told his players, "We're not winning. Look, if Balladream had a bit more luck, they could have scored five or six goals by now," criticizing their performance.
Balladream's coach, Hyun Young-min, motivated his team, "Mashima and So Yoo-mi are nearly out of breath. Now's our chance to take control."
In the second half, Jung Ye-won continued her relentless defense against Mashima, significantly reducing her chances to receive the ball.
Commentator Bae Seong-jae joked that Jung Ye-won's man-marking was like a bullfight, eliciting laughter.
Jung Ye-won didn't stop there, capitalizing on a mistake by KISUM to score an equalizer, propelling her to the top scorer of the league. Following that, KISUM's errors, including a missed back-pass catch, were disappointing.
As both teams continued their aggressive play, the game neared its climax. Then, Kyung Seo broke through Kim Seul-hee's defense and scored a reverse kick goal, turning the 2-0 game into a 3-2 victory for Balladream.
Balladream's unexpected win, after maintaining focus throughout the game and blocking Wonder Women's goals, was hailed by Chairman Ha Seok-ju as "the best game ever."
And with that, Wonder Women's streak of no goals conceded came to an end. Mashima expressed a desire to show improvement in the next game, saying, "I didn't play well today, so I want to show a better performance next time."
Meanwhile, the preview showed Mashima donning goalkeeper gloves, setting the stage for an anticipated showdown between her and Wonder Women.
