YouTuber PPKKa, who conceals his face, has applied for a postponement of his court date, which was just four days away. It has been reported that the difficulty in finding legal representation due to public condemnation was the reason behind this decision.
According to legal circles on the 17th, Judge Lim Bok-gyu of the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Case No. 1005 has postponed the first hearing of the lawsuit filed by Se Yeon against PPKKa, demanding 30 million won in damages, to the 22nd of next month. The trial was originally scheduled for 11 a.m. that day.
The court accepted PPKKa's request to change the date on the 13th. PPKKa stated in his application for postponement that "being in a position of public criticism and the high profile nature of the case make it difficult to appoint a lawyer."
PPKKa seems to be extremely concerned about his identity being revealed during the trial process.
He submitted a request for a video trial on the 3rd, citing concerns over identity exposure, and on the 15th of the same month, he also filed a request to limit public access to case-related documents. Additionally, on March 18th, he submitted a request to suspend the lawsuit proceedings, but all were rejected.
Previously, PPKKa had produced and disseminated a video claiming that 'Se Yeon engaged in sexual relations for monetary compensation and gambled in Las Vegas, USA,' which led to Se Yeon filing a lawsuit for defamation, demanding 30 million won in damages.
Since its creation in 2018 by Mr. Park, the YouTube channel 'PPKKa' has amassed approximately 1.1 million subscribers and 82 million cumulative views. Operating under anonymity with large sunglasses and a mask, the channel has primarily focused on content criticizing women, celebrities, and other YouTubers.
