Singer and musical actor Lee Chang-sub has showcased his profound skills in the revival of 'Memphis'.
Lee Chang-sub took the stage as Huey in the musical 'Memphis' at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater in central Seoul on the 18th, marking a successful first performance.
'Memphis' is based on the true story of legendary DJ Dewey Phillips, who introduced black music to white society. Set in the southern city of Memphis, Tennessee, during the 1950s, it tells the story of radio DJ Huey, who aims to change the world with rock 'n' roll, and Felicia, a talented singer with dreams and love.
Following his participation in the Korean premiere of 'Memphis' in 2023, Lee Chang-sub once again met with audiences as Huey. His transformation into a young DJ, complete with a charming voice, dazzling performances, and even more nuanced acting, delighted all five senses of the audience.
Moreover, Lee Chang-sub's solid skills and unique personality completed a passionate and optimistic character. His thrilling and emotionally rich journey of spreading rock 'n' roll was portrayed with his three-dimensional expressiveness, offering a deep sense of immersion.
Returning to the musical stage for the first time in 16 months since 'Winterreise' closed in February last year, Lee Chang-sub's matured capabilities were also highlighted. This revival of 'Memphis' is expected to reaffirm his reliable character portrayal abilities.
Meanwhile, Lee Chang-sub has proven his worth as a performance artist by successfully completing his solo concert tour 'The Wayfarer' this year. He also released new songs 'Feel The Groove' and 'I Will Be Your Flower', and continued his active participation in various festivals.
Lee Chang-sub's performance in the musical 'Memphis' will run until September 21st at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater.
