Canadian-born singer JK Kim Dong-wook (49, John Kim) has shown his displeasure after being sued by a civic group for spreading false claims about President Lee Jae-myung.

On the 20th, JK Kim Dong-wook posted a screenshot on his social media of a news article stating that Shin Seung-mok, the head of the civic group National Alliance for Clearing Deep-rooted Evils, had filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 15th. The complaint accuses him of defamation by spreading false information, in violation of the Information and Communications Network Act.

JK Kim Dong-wook posted, "I'm posting this because so many people sent it to me. If I'm a small fry, what does that make you? Here, take my attention. Freedom of speech." This seems to be a response to Shin's statement upon filing the lawsuit, saying, "There's no high or low in front of the law, and we don't give small fries a pass. We'll deal with this strictly by the law."

Furthermore, JK Kim Dong-wook expressed his distrust towards the organization that sued him, saying, "What exactly does the Legacy Restoration Citizens' Participation Federation do? Here, take my attention."

Previously, JK Kim Dong-wook has been vocal about political issues since last December, opposing the martial law, impeachment, and dismissal of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. After the election of President Lee Jae-myung, he also stirred controversy by spreading conspiracy theories about President Lee's first phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump and the invitation to the G7 summit.

Some have criticized the foreign-nationality singer, who neither has the right to vote nor has fulfilled military duties in Korea, for inappropriately meddling in Korean politics. JK Kim Dong-wook, born in Korea, changed his nationality after moving to Canada with his family during his high school years.
