The head of the YouTube channel 'Hover Lab', Kim Se-ui, is reportedly on the verge of being investigated by the police, following a defamation lawsuit filed by actor Kim Soo-hyun.
On the 30th, Acting Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Park Hyun-soo, announced during a regular press briefing that "the investigation of the legal representative regarding the case filed by Mr. Kim Soo-hyun against Mr. Kim Se-ui and the late Kim Sae-ron's family for defamation was completed on the 18th." He added, "We are currently coordinating the schedule for the suspect's appearance and plan to proceed with the investigation soon."
Last month, on the 7th, Kim Soo-hyun's side refuted a recording file released by Hover Lab and the late Kim Sae-ron's family, claiming it was the deceased's voice, by stating it was a "forged file manipulated with AI deep fake voice technology." Subsequently, on the 9th, they filed a lawsuit against Kim Se-ui for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act. Furthermore, on the 23rd, they escalated their legal response by additionally suing the late Kim Sae-ron's family for false accusation.
The legal representative of Kim Soo-hyun, LKB & Partners, stated, "At a press conference, Kim Se-ui played a voice manipulated with AI, claiming to be that of the late Kim Sae-ron, and spread absurd false facts, such as alleging that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with the deceased since middle school, that Kim Soo-hyun's side attempted to cover up the file by persuading the informant, and even went as far as hiring a hitman for an assassination attempt."
They continued, "Kim Se-ui and the family used this forged file as a basis to spread false facts, going beyond to accuse Kim Soo-hyun of charges including violation of the Child Welfare Act, which is a clear act of false accusation."
The police are also investigating the false accusation case filed by Kim Soo-hyun's side, and are coordinating the schedule for the suspect, Kim Se-ui, to appear for a summoning investigation soon.
