Actor Son Suk-ku's film company Stannum has clinched the Grand Prix at Cannes with its inaugural work 'Night Fishing' (directed by Moon Byung-gon).

On June 17th, at the world's most prestigious advertising festival, 'Cannes Lions', 'Night Fishing' made a splash by winning both the Entertainment Grand Prix and a Silver award.

'Night Fishing' is a humanistic thriller that unfolds a mysterious incident at an electric vehicle charging station on a dark night. Sponsored by Hyundai Motors, the film uniquely progresses solely through the perspectives of the car's front, rear, side, and interior cameras.

Director Moon Byung-gon, who has once again proven his prowess with this unique filming technique from the car's viewpoint, became the only director to have swept both the Cannes Film Festival and the advertising festival globally, following his win of the Palme d'Or in the short film competition at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival with 'Safe'.

'Night Fishing' has garnered attention and numerous awards from various film and advertising festivals, including the Best Editing Award at the 'Fantasia International Film Festival', the Grand Prix at 'Spikes Asia', the Grand Winner at 'Clio Awards', and the Gold at 'AdFest', achieving a total of 20 wins.

Stannum's unique journey is expected to continue. If the beginning was about blurring the lines between movies and advertising with a new form of entertainment, next up is a Korean-American co-production. The feature film 'Bedford Park' (working title), planned for a global release in 2026, tells the love story between a Korean-American woman, Audrey (played by Choi Hee-seo), and a former wrestling athlete, Eli (played by Son Suk-ku).

Son Suk-ku previously expressed his decision to join the project due to the realistic and detailed screenplay, and particularly because it offered a departure from the stereotypical Asian character in American productions. The film wrapped up on-location shooting in New Jersey last May and is currently in post-production.

Stannum, just taking its first steps as a production company, has expressed its determination to "continue breaking molds and actively utilizing collaborations to create unique stories that are distinctly Stannum."
