From 'STOVE LEAGUE' to 'Racket Boys' to 'The Winning Try'... The Launch of Well-Made SBS Sports Dramas
TryThe thrilling and refreshing comedic sports drama 'The Winning Try', tackling the unique subject of 'rugby', is set to continue the legacy of well-crafted SBS sports dramas, generating much anticipation.

Scheduled to premiere on the 25th (Friday), the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try' (written by Lim Jin-ah, directed by Jang Young-seok/hereafter 'Try') is an unpredictable comedic sports drama about a quirky director, Joo Ga-ram, and the perennially last-place Hanyang High School rugby team's sprint towards national championship victory. Director Jang Young-seok, who co-directed 'Taxi Driver 2', and writer Lim Jin-ah, whose script won the top prize at the SBS Cultural Foundation's script contest, have joined forces. The cast, including Yoon Kye-sang (as Joo Ga-ram), Lim Se-mi (as Bae I-ji), and Kim Yo-han (as Yoon Sung-jun), combines solid acting skills with vibrant energy, raising expectations.

'Try' follows 'Racket Boys', which focused on badminton, and 'STOVE LEAGUE', which centered on baseball, as the first Korean drama to feature rugby, promising a fresh dose of fun. Especially as a comedic growth drama presented by SBS, a network with an undefeated record in sports dramas, it stirs excitement for what's to come this summer.

SBS has previously received acclaim for producing 'Racket Boys', a clean healing drama based on the lifestyle sport of badminton. Moreover, 'STOVE LEAGUE', which realistically and engagingly depicted the growth of a last-place baseball team, caused a sensation akin to hitting a grand slam, proving the prestige of SBS sports dramas.

This summer, SBS is set to showcase the power of sports dramas once again with 'Try', Korea's first rugby-themed drama. 'Try' captures attention with dynamic rugby matches and refreshing visuals. The energetic scenes of the Hanyang High School rugby team clashing on the green fields under the clear summer sky will burst with refreshing dopamine, offering laughs and fun cooler than a water fight.

In particular, actors including Kim Yo-han, Kim Yi-jun (as Oh Young-kwang), Lee Su-chan (as So Myung-woo), Yoon Jae-chan (as Do Hyung-sik), Hwang Sung-bin (as Kim Ju-yang), Woo Min-kyu (as Pyo Sun-ho), Jo Han-gyeol (as Kang Tae-poong), and Kim Dan (as Moon Woong) have undergone special training to transform into rugby players, crafting their muscular physiques. The youthful vigor displayed by these actors on the field will surely get viewers' hearts racing.

Moreover, the explosion of cheerful tension through character play offers another route to laughter. Centered around Yoon Kye-sang's comedic performance, which proves his nickname of 'man of a thousand faces', the antics of the always-last rugby team's FM captain, a vice-captain dreaming of escaping to become a police officer, a player obsessed with the camera, and a player with a beastly physique but a girly heart, will also draw keen interest.

Above all, 'Try' aims to pack fresh fun and relatability into the theme of rugby. The story unfolds as the eccentric coach Joo Ga-ram takes charge of the perennially last-place Hanyang High School rugby team, mirroring our own lives where we keep pushing forward despite failures. Particularly, as 'Try' is a unanimous winner of the SBS script contest, the dialogue penned by writer Lim Jin-ah is expected to strike a chord.

Filling this summer with the passionate energy of youth, 'Try' will premiere on the 25th (Friday) at 9:50 PM, following the currently airing 'Our Movie'.
