'Habitual Drug Use' Yoo Ah-in, Prison Sentence Suspended

Actor Yoo Ah-in (38, real name Uhm Hong-sik) has been given a suspended prison sentence for habitual drug use.

On the morning of the 3rd, the Supreme Court's 1st Division (Chief Justice Ma Yong-ju) held the final appeal for Yoo Ah-in, who was charged with violations of the Narcotics Control Act, including cannabis smoking and instigation. The court confirmed the original sentence of one year in prison, suspended for two years, and a fine of 2 million won.

Yoo Ah-in was indicted for habitually administering medical propofol and other substances under the guise of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures at hospitals in Seoul from September 2020 to January 2023. The total amount administered was reported to be 9,635.7ml of propofol, 567mg of midazolam, 11.5mg of ketamine, and 200mg of remimazolam.

Additionally, from May 2021 to August 2023, he was accused of illegally obtaining prescriptions for over 1,100 tablets of two types of sleeping pills under someone else's name. Last January, he was also charged with smoking cannabis in the United States with Choi (34) and others, and for encouraging another individual to smoke.

Yoo Ah-in was initially sentenced to one year in prison in September of last year and was taken into custody. However, in February of this year, his sentence was reduced to a suspended sentence of two years, allowing him to be released.
