After a four-year hiatus, the Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival is making a comeback, capturing attention with a trailer still featuring Kim Go-eun and Koo Kyo-hwan.

The still released on the 15th shows a woman (Kim Go-eun) and a man (Koo Kyo-hwan) encountering each other in a small repair shop. Director Um Tae-hwa, who directed the trailer, shared in an interview with Cine21, "It's a sparkling story of a melodramatic reunion after four years," hinting at the story and expressing his sentiment towards the upcoming restart of the "Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival."

Director Um Tae-hwa, who won the grand prize at the Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival with 'Forest' and went on to direct 'Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned' and 'Concrete Utopia', is at the helm for the 21st Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival trailer, featuring Kim Go-eun and Koo Kyo-hwan in the lead roles. The trailer is set to premiere on Naver TV in early August.

The Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival, initiated in 2002 with director Lee Hyun-seung as the executive chairman, was founded by current directors leading the Korean film industry, who participate as judges to discover and support new films across genres.

Producing star directors like Kim Han-min, Na Hong-jin, and Yoon Jong-bin, along with star actors such as Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Go-eun, Ahn Jae-hong, Jung Yu-mi, Choi Woo-shik, and Han Ye-ri, the festival has established itself as a true gateway to the commercial film industry over the past 20 years. After a break following its 20th edition in 2021, the festival is set to make its return with its 21st edition, featuring a new executive committee of seven directors: Um Tae-hwa, Yoon Ga-eun, Lee Sang-geun, Lee Ok-seop, Jang Jae-hyun, Jo Sung-hee, and Han Jun-hee.

The festival is scheduled to open in October.
