On the July 16 episode of SBS’s "Kick a Goal", the match to determine the final team to advance to the G League semifinals unfolded.
Before the match, Fire Butterflies vowed that this time, they would not suffer from leg cramps, saying they had done everything they could to prepare.
In response, Nine Cheok Giants commented, “Fire Butterflies’s ultimate goal seems to be not getting leg cramps,” and Cha Seorin joked that she would mark Kang Boram closely to make sure she got a cramp in the first half, drawing laughter.
Lee Hyun-yi especially expressed confidence, saying, “During the off-season, Coach Lee Young-pyo made us run a lot. We even ran in sub-zero snowstorms until we were begging to stop the shuttle runs. So when it comes to stamina, I’m confident.”
With many predicting a win for Nine Cheok Giants, the first goal didn’t come as a surprise. Kim Jin-kyung of Nine Cheok Giants scored the opening goal.
The second goal came shortly after. Goalkeeper Heo Kyung-hee, who’s known for scoring goals herself, added another, and the team celebrated with encouragement and joy.
Soon after, Kim Jin-kyung scored again, securing a multi-goal performance and effectively sealing the win.
As momentum completely shifted, Fire Butterflies players began to show signs of mental fatigue. Still, they didn’t give up. At the 12-minute mark of the first half, Han Cho-im scored a consolation goal, catching attention. Overcome with emotion after scoring for the first time in nearly a year, Han shed tears of joy.
The second half took on a different tone, with Fire Butterflies launching constant attacks. However, each time, Heo Kyung-hee came through with super saves, dampening Fire Butterflies’s energy.
In the end, Nine Cheok Giants claimed a solid 3–1 victory and secured a spot in the G League semifinals.
Kim Jin-kyung, who delivered a standout performance with her multi-goal match, stated, “I’ve never once held a trophy, so no matter which team we face, I won’t be afraid. I’ll go all the way and bring that trophy home,” showing her determination.
After the match, Ahn Hye-kyung was seen congratulating Lee Hyun-yi. The two embraced and shed tears together. Lee said, “It’s because we know each other so well. We know how hard it’s been,” and added, “You’re doing so well, unnie,” touching viewers.
Meanwhile, a teaser at the end of the episode previewed the upcoming match between Actionista and Wonder Women, raising anticipation for what the next episode will bring.
