The film 'Project Y', featuring the notable pairing of actors Han Sohee and Jun Jongseo, has been officially invited to the Special Presentations section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

According to the film's distributor Plus M Entertainment on the 22nd, 'Project Y' will be showcased in the Special Presentations section of the 50th TIFF, running from September 4th (Thursday) to September 14th (Sunday).

'Project Y' tells the gripping tale of Miseon and Dokyung, who have nothing but each other, as they attempt to escape their grim reality by stealing hidden black money and gold bars.

The TIFF is North America's largest film festival and one of the top four film festivals globally, known for inviting films that boast both popularity and artistic integrity. The Special Presentations section, which 'Project Y' has been invited to, introduces new works by world-renowned actors and directors. Previous invitees to this section include Bong Joon-ho's 'Mother' and 'Parasite', Park Chan-wook's 'Decision to Leave' and 'The Handmaiden', and Kim Jee-woon's 'The Age of Shadows'.

Last year's 49th TIFF saw enthusiastic responses for 'The Law of the City' by director Lee Eon-hee and 'Veteran 2' by director Ryoo Seung-wan in the Special Presentations section, and 'Harbin' by director Woo Min-ho in the Gala Presentations section.

Giovanna Fulvi, TIFF's Senior Programmer, commented on 'Project Y', saying, "The strong pull created by Han Sohee and Jun Jongseo, combined with adrenaline-pumping action and a fierce struggle for survival stemming from a wounded childhood, delivers both thrilling tension and deep emotional resonance. Centered around a bold plan, 'Project Y' is one of the most anticipated Korean films of the year."

'Project Y' is generating buzz with the intense chemistry and fresh transformations of Han Sohee and Jun Jongseo, actors known for their unique performances and distinctive charm in every project. The film also draws attention with its daring subject matter and intense direction by Lee Hwan, known for 'Adults Don't Know' and 'Park Hwa-young'.

'Project Y' is set to premiere at the TIFF before its official release in Korea.
