The controversy surrounding a Yeosu restaurant's rude treatment of a solo dining YouTuber has finally been resolved. The YouTuber has received a heartfelt apology from the restaurant.

On the night of July 22, YouTuber A posted a lengthy message on their channel's community tab, stating, "I received an apology from the restaurant," and shared that they had mixed feelings about the situation. They added, "The unexpected media attention and scrutiny were overwhelming and challenging, not just for me but for the restaurant as well."

They continued, "The email from the restaurant was filled with remorse and contemplation. I, too, do not wish for any further conflict, so I would like to put this matter to rest now." They also expressed gratitude towards those who offered comfort during their solo dining experience in an unfamiliar place.

Previously, YouTuber A had shared a video detailing how they were scolded by the restaurant owner for dining alone and ordering two portions. The owner's remarks, "It's not just you coming in. Eat up quickly," and "Just leave after paying 20,000 won," quickly spread online, sparking outrage.

As the controversy grew, Yeosu City officials visited the restaurant on July 16 for a hygiene and service inspection and launched a kindness campaign at Yi Sun-sin Square on July 18. However, the restaurant's attempt to explain to city officials that the YouTuber had filmed without consent and that a misunderstanding had occurred due to the loud volume led to further backlash.

Following this, content creator Poongja, who had previously featured the restaurant, met with YouTuber A on July 19 to apologize and offer consolation, also hinting at a return visit to Yeosu.

Meanwhile, Yeosu City issued an official statement on July 24, apologizing for the incident despite regular kindness training and inspections, and promised to develop specific measures for improving service in the food industry. This includes creating a manual for serving solo diners, designating restaurants that accommodate solo diners, and enhancing kindness training.

Yeosu Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong stated, "We will do our best to transform Yeosu into a city known for its kindness. We ask for the interest and support of both residents and tourists."
