The film 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' made a spectacular debut, securing the number one spot at the box office on its opening day by attracting 430,101 viewers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for cinema tickets, 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' drew in a massive audience nationwide on its release day, July 30th. This not only surpassed the 2025 blockbuster 'Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning' (423,892 viewers) but also set a new record for the highest opening score ever for a Korean comedy film, overtaking 'Extreme Job' (368,582 viewers).
Moreover, 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' effortlessly outperformed the opening scores of million-viewer films such as 'Exhuma' (331,118 viewers) and '12.12: THE DAY' (203,813 viewers), as well as last summer's hit 'Pilot' (373,859 viewers), marking the highest opening score among non-franchise Korean films released in the past five years and continuing a streak of breaking various records.
This success is attributed not only to the film's inherent appeal but also to the benefits of Culture Day and a 6,000 won discount voucher for movie tickets. On July 30th, which coincided with Culture Day, moviegoers could enjoy a film for just 1,000 won when combining the discount voucher, with 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' being the top choice for many.
