The film 'Noise' has broken through the 1.7 million viewer mark, ascending to the throne as the top-grossing thriller of 2025.
According to the integrated computer network of the Film Promotion Committee on the 6th, 'Noise' reached a cumulative audience of 1.7 million viewers this morning. With this achievement, it has surpassed the final audience count of 'The Priests 2: Dark Nuns' (1.675 million viewers), becoming this year's highest-grossing thriller. This comes after reaching 1 million viewers and breaking even on its 18th day of release, followed by surpassing 1.5 million viewers on its 26th day.
'Noise' is a reality-based horror thriller about Joo-young (played by Lee Sun-bin), who sets out to find her missing sister in an apartment complex plagued by daily noise pollution, only to encounter a mysterious case.

It's an unexpected hit. Initially, not many had their eyes on this film before its release. However, by tapping into the real-life horror of noise between floors, it resonated with audiences and led to box office success.
Not only was it a domestic hit, but it also caught the attention of international film festivals. Recently screened at the Fantasia Film Festival, it received rave reviews: "Director Kim Soo-jin knows exactly when to unfold intensely powerful and instinctively frightening scenes, using familiar narrative structures as gateways to lead into ingenious and impressive horror, showcasing her undeniable talent" (Cinapse), "It electrifies your nerves and delivers a terrifying auditory experience" (Screen Anarchy), "While adhering to the traditional style of the thriller genre, it's excellently crafted. A slow-burning horror intertwined with explosive emotions" (Eye for Films).
'Noise' is set to officially release in Taiwan and Japan this week, aiming for international box office success.
