This coming September 5th, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin' (written by Lee Young-jong, directed by Byun Young-joo) premieres. 'The Mantis: Original Sin' is a high-density crime thriller that unfolds 20 years after the brutal serial killer 'Mantis' was caught, a copycat crime occurs, and in order to solve the case, a detective engages in an unexpected joint investigation with his mother, a 'Mantis' he has hated all his life.
'The Mantis: Original Sin' is the result of a collaboration between director Byun Young-joo of 'Helpless' and writer Lee Young-jong of 'Spring in Seoul', with the addition of two actors, Ko Hyun-jung (playing Jung Yi-shin) and Jang Dong-yoon (playing Cha Su-yeol), who bring both acting prowess and buzz to the project, sparking reactions of a 'dream team' even before its release. Among them, actress Ko Hyun-jung, whose name alone generates explosive anticipation, is set to undergo a radical transformation, stirring up heated discussions.
In light of this, two types of posters for 'The Mantis: Original Sin' were released on the 6th. Not only Ko Hyun-jung's powerful presence but also the chilling atmosphere of the entire drama she will lead are captured in these intense posters, making it impossible to look away.
In the first poster, Ko Hyun-jung stands alone in a pitch-dark place, not wearing a prison uniform despite being a serial killer. However, her tightly bound hands suggest she has committed crimes and is under someone's surveillance. Especially, her indifferent expression, seemingly unbound by anything, and the chilling copy "Murder... the best thing I've done in my life" starkly contrast, sending shivers down the spine. It also piques curiosity about why she had to commit murder and why she became a serial killer.

The second poster focuses even more powerfully on Ko Hyun-jung, captivating the viewer. In the center of the poster, pierced by a green light symbolizing the praying mantis, Ko Hyun-jung gazes into the camera with an expression where elegance and eeriness coexist. Her aura fills the entire poster with just one look, and the shocking copy "The scent of blood? I love it" leaves a deep impact on potential viewers.
In 'The Mantis: Original Sin', Ko Hyun-jung takes on the role of the serial killer 'Praying Mantis'. Her presence is crucial and indispensable to the drama. Through the initially released images in the posters, Ko Hyun-jung has proven her overwhelming presence, affirming "It's definitely Ko Hyun-jung." The drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin' becomes an eagerly awaited project, simply because of Ko Hyun-jung.
'The Mantis: Original Sin' will follow the currently airing 'The Winning Try' and is set to premiere on Friday, September 5th, at 9:50 PM.
