Starring Jo Jung-suk, the movie 'My Daughter is a Zombie' has broken its break-even point of 2.2 million viewers just 7 days after its release.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, 'My Daughter is a Zombie' attracted 167,702 people nationwide on its 5th day, maintaining its position at the top of the box office. The cumulative audience count has reached 2,203,664.
Released on the 30th of last month, 'My Daughter is a Zombie' effortlessly surpassed its break-even point after consistently leading the box office for a week. With its momentum showing no signs of waning in its second week, expectations for a blockbuster success are high. Its competitors, 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophet' has effectively bowed out of the box office race, and with 'F1 The Movie' and 'King of Kings' nearing the end of their runs, 'My Daughter is a Zombie's' solo run seems set to continue for the time being.
The only competition on the horizon is 'Pretty Crazy,' starring Lim Yoon-ah and Ahn Bo-hyun, set to release on the 13th. It shares the comedy genre with 'My Daughter is a Zombie' and is the latest work of director Lee Sang-geun, who previously attracted 9 million viewers with 'Exit.'
If 'My Daughter is a Zombie' can outperform 'Pretty Crazy,' it could potentially achieve blockbuster status with over 5 million viewers.
