Comedian Kim Byung-man's Adopted Daughter Files Lawsuit to Confirm Paternity of His Other Children

Comedian Kim Byung-man's adopted daughter has filed a lawsuit to confirm paternity, claiming "Kim Byung-man has children out of wedlock." In response, Kim's side acknowledged the existence of the children but drew a line, stating it happened "after the marriage had already fallen apart."

According to entertainment sources, Kim Byung-man's adopted daughter, referred to as Ms. B, filed a lawsuit against Kim Byung-man at the Seoul Family Court on the 7th, seeking to confirm a biological relationship. Ms. B, the daughter of Kim Byung-man's legally married wife, Ms. A, was adopted by Kim Byung-man in 2010 when he registered his marriage with Ms. A. It was Kim's first marriage and Ms. A's second, who already had children from her previous husband at the time.

The relationship between Kim Byung-man and Ms. A deteriorated, leading to separation in 2019 and a divorce lawsuit, which was finalized by the Supreme Court in 2023, officially ending their marriage. However, the legal adoptive relationship between the adopted daughter, Ms. B, and Kim Byung-man is still maintained, with two of Kim's three disownment lawsuits being dismissed. The verdict for the remaining case is scheduled for the 8th.

In her complaint, Ms. B stated, "It appears that Kim Byung-man fathered two children with another woman while legally married to my mother, Ms. A." She argued that "there's a high possibility these children are Kim Byung-man's out-of-wedlock children, and given my significant interest in matters such as inheritance, it's necessary to confirm their paternity through the court." She also requested a DNA test order from the court.

In response, Kim Byung-man's side countered in an interview with a media outlet, calling the adopted daughter's lawsuit "an unreasonable claim" and suggesting the timing of the lawsuit, just a day before the disownment case verdict, was suspicious. They continued, "It's true that Kim Byung-man had two children with his current fiancee after his marriage with Ms. A had effectively ended," acknowledging the existence of the children but emphasizing that they are not out-of-wedlock children.

Meanwhile, Kim Byung-man is set to marry a younger non-celebrity woman on September 20th. Initially planned for Jeju Island, the wedding location has been changed to Seoul for the convenience of the guests, as reported.
