Actors Ahn Ji-ho, Baek Jiheon, Moon Sung-hyun and WOOYEON have joined the cast of the coming-of-age music film ‘Nerd Rhapsody’ (literal title).

‘Nerd Rhapsody’ follows a genius, nerdy pianist at an arts high school who dives into hip-hop to win the heart of a transfer student he falls for at first sight. It’s a youth-driven, music-fueled coming-of-age romance about chasing love, making music and finding your own path.

Director Park Jin-woo, known for the stylish dramas ‘To. Jenny’ and ‘Dear.M,’ is at the helm, with the production team behind the melodrama ‘Dear Hyeri’ on board.

Ahn Ji-ho―seen in ‘Night Has Come,’ ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ ‘Begins ≠ Youth’ and ‘The Defects’―will play Yeom Dae-seong, a “genius pianist” who has swept national competitions. He’s set to chart the lonely prodigy’s transformation with the depth and nuance of a piano score.

Baek Jiheon of fromis_9 has been cast as Kwon Na-eun, an aspiring singer-songwriter who transfers in late and becomes Dae-seong’s crush. Beyond acting, Baek will perform her character’s guitar and vocals herself, promising a heartfelt, music-first portrayal.

Moon Sung-hyun takes on Oh Da-min, a nationally recognized high school rapper armed with swagger and pride. His presence creates crackling tension between Dae-seong and Na-eun and helps anchor the story.

WOOYEON of the girl group WOOAH has been tapped to play Min-ji, Dae-seong’s quick-witted, pragmatic younger sister. Her believable sibling chemistry and breezy energy add spark to the film.

There’s strong buzz around the synergy between rising twentysomething actors Ahn Ji-ho and Moon Sung-hyun and idol performers Baek Jiheon and WOOYEON, whose combined star power promises an authentic jolt of youth.

Studio HIM said, “Through music, ‘Nerd Rhapsody’ tells the story of young people who express themselves, learn to understand one another and grow. By using music as the bridge to explore first crushes and the uncertainty of hazy dreams―feelings almost everyone experiences in school―we hope the film delivers deep empathy and comfort to audiences.”

‘Nerd Rhapsody’ is set to reach viewers across multiple platforms, including submissions to domestic and international film festivals and a streaming release.
