Actor Lee Si-kang shared heartfelt closing thoughts as the play 'The Hymn of Death' wrapped, thanking audiences, the creative team, and fans for their support.

Lee recently completed the final performance of 'The Hymn of Death' at LG Arts Center Seoul’s U+ Stage in Gangseo-gu.

On social media, he wrote, “We made it to the finish line without a hitch,” adding, “Spending the past three months with our incredible producers, director, crew, and cast has been pure joy. I’m truly grateful.”

He continued, “To everyone who came out―industry colleagues, friends, and, most of all, our audiences―thank you. To the fans who even flew in from Japan to see the show, and to my Korean fans as well, your support means everything.” He added, “Being loved this much comes with responsibility. I’ll repay it with even greater focus and integrity―and better performances.”

Lee also expressed his affection for the role: “Living as Hong Nan-pa on stage made me genuinely happy.” In the production, he played Hong Nan-pa, the seminal Korean composer who helps unravel the intertwined story of Yun Sim-deok and Kim Woo-jin. Opposite Yoshida―a police officer retracing the past to write a novel―Hong serves as a crucial thread connecting the drama’s timelines and characters.

A reimagining of playwright Yun Dae-seong’s work of the same name, 'The Hymn of Death' dramatizes the tragic romance between Korea’s first soprano, Yun Sim-deok, and writer Kim Woo-jin, while delving into the lives around them. Blending real and fictional figures―including Na Hye-seok, Romi, and Yoshida―the show channels the history and emotion of the 1920s into a gripping, resonant stage experience.

A former member of the group KINO and a first-generation Hallyu star, Lee has built a busy screen career with dramas like 'Bravo, My Life,' 'The Elegant Empire,' and 'Retweet,' while expanding his stage repertoire with the musical 'Jungle Life' (literal title) and the plays 'Fantasy Tale' (literal title) and 'When I See a Rainbow in the Wide Sky, My Heart Dances' (literal title).
