'My Turn' Star Nam Yoon-su: Working with TV Show Legends Was a Huge Challenge ― and a Big Opportunity
Nam Yoon-suActor Nam Yoon-su, currently taking a crack at becoming a “trot idol” on SBS’s new scripted reality-style show “My Turn,” unveiled a fresh magazine spread and interview. On the show, he leans into a comedic triple handicap ― tone-deaf, off-beat and two left feet ― as he dives into trot, Korea’s classic pop genre.

On the 21st, the magazine Singles dropped a pictorial capturing Nam’s many expressions, serving up visuals that play like a mini drama.

In the interview that accompanied the shoot, Nam reflected on “My Turn,” saying, “Just sharing a stage with legends of the TV show scene was both a huge challenge and a big opportunity for me.” He also offered a viewing tip: “If you just go with the flow, you’ll enjoy it even more.”

Talking about what’s next, Nam added, “Instead of plotting everything out, I try to stay grateful for each opportunity and give it my best. When I do that, new sides of me I’ve never shown just come out naturally.”

Asked how he spends a day off, he shared his reset ritual: “I always make time for sunlight. There’s a tiny spot by my front door that’s my healing corner. Even a few minutes of sun gives me a lift.”

“My Turn” follows seven cast members ― Lee Kyung-kyu, Tak Jae-hoon, Choo Sung-hoon, Lee Soo-ji, Kim Won-hoon, Park Ji-hyun and Nam Yoon-su ― as a fictional trot idol group comes together, spinning out unpredictable antics as each chases their own ambitions. The show airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on SBS.
