'Zombie Daughter' Becomes 2025's First Film to Top 5 Million Admissions, Races Toward 6 Million
“My Daughter Is a Zombie” has become Korea’s first 2025 release to cross 5 million admissions ― and it’s already gunning for 6 million.

The comedic drama follows a doting dad who enters a covert training program to protect his daughter, believed to be the last zombie left on Earth. The film stars Cho Jung-seok, Choi Yu-ri, Lee Jung-eun, Yoon Kyung-ho and Cho Yeo-jeong.

Per the Korean Film Council’s KOBIS box office database, “My Daughter Is a Zombie” reached 5,000,168 admissions at 7 p.m. KST on Aug. 24, just 26 days after opening.

It’s the first title of 2025 to hit the 5 million mark domestically and the first Korean film to do so since “I, the Executioner” about 11 months ago. The pace outstrips 2023 summer smash “Smugglers” (36 days) and the film has already surpassed the final tally of 2024’s summer leader “Pilot” (4,718,036 admissions).

After notching the year’s biggest advance-sales haul for a Korean movie and the largest opening ever for a Korean comedy, “My Daughter Is a Zombie” has claimed 2025’s No. 1 spot at the Korean box office, edging out “F1: The Movie” and “Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning.” It’s also ruled No. 1 for 23 straight days ― the longest streak of the year ― as it keeps rewriting the record books.

To celebrate the milestone, stars Cho Jung-seok, Lee Jung-eun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Yoon Kyung-ho and Choi Yu-ri, along with director Pil Gam-seong, shared photos of handwritten thank-you notes for fans. “It all feels like a miracle,” Pil said. “I believe a film is truly complete when it meets its audience. To the five million moviegoers who completed ‘My Daughter Is a Zombie’ ― thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
