Jun Ji-hyun & Gang Dong-won Lock Eyes in 'Tempest' as Sparks Fly in New Stills
PolarisDisney+ original series "Tempest" has dropped new first-look stills capturing the taut spark between Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won at the heart of its spy romance.

Created by screenwriter Chung Seo-kyung and directed by Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng, "Tempest" follows UN ambassador Moon-ju (Jun Ji-hyun), who hunts the mastermind behind an attack on a presidential candidate. She’s forced into an uneasy alliance with San-ho (Gang Dong-won), a stateless special agent tasked with protecting her, as the pair collide with a truth big enough to rattle the Korean Peninsula. On Aug. 25, the production unveiled “First Look” stills spotlighting the duo’s magnetic chemistry.

The images tease a subtle push-and-pull between an acclaimed diplomat and the enigmatic operative assigned to keep her alive. After crossing paths at the scene of the shooting, Moon-ju is targeted by a shadowy organization, while San-ho moves in to shield her―setting the stage for a relationship that could shift at any moment.

As they close in on the truth behind a sprawling conspiracy, Moon-ju and San-ho’s undefined feelings grow more complicated. With danger around every corner, the pair must decide how far to trust―and how much to doubt―each other, threading that razor-thin line between espionage and romance. Their fraught alliance promises high-stakes moments that leave one question hanging: how will they weather the oncoming storm together?

Co-directors Kim Hee-won and Heo Myung-haeng said, “When the two stand side by side, they give off an aura like no one can touch them. They brought fearless energy to set and threw themselves into the action, which made the characters land even better,” praising the pair’s on-screen synergy.

With a standout cast, top-tier creative team and a high-octane, unpredictable story, Disney+’s "Tempest" premieres Sept. 10 with three episodes, followed by two episodes weekly starting Sept. 17, for a total of nine.
