DJ DOC’s Kim Chang-ryeol’s son, Kim Joo-hwan, drew attention with a surprisingly grounded presence on TV.
In a new teaser for Channel A’s talk-reality series “Table for Four,” Kim sits down with host Park Kyung-lim alongside close friends Sung Dae-hyun and vocal coach Park Sun-joo. The clip ends with a surprise appearance by his now-grown son, instantly grabbing viewers’ attention.
Joo-hwan, who enrolled at Yonsei University in 2023, walked in tall with an easy smile―prompting Park to gush, “He’s so handsome.” Watching his son, Kim reflected on the past: “When Joo-hwan was born, I wasn’t ready. I was struggling financially and mentally,” he said, tearing up as he looked back on those years.
“Even when it was hard, we’re still family,” Joo-hwan said softly, then added, “It’s not about being some perfect dad…” The brief comment landed with weight, leaving the studio misty-eyed.
Kim married Jang Chae-hee in 2003, and they share two children: son Kim Joo-hwan (born 2004) and daughter Kim Joo-ha (born 2013). Joo-hwan has turned heads since high school for his height―well over 185 cm―and clean-cut looks, even fielding modeling offers. On the show, Kim admitted, “Sometimes I wonder how things might’ve been if I’d pulled myself together sooner,” before adding, “I got through it because I had my family.”
