Kim Nam-joo Recalls Husband Kim Seung-woo Filing Missing-Person Report When She Just Wanted Alone Time
Kim Nam-jooKim Nam-joo is sharing the hilarious backstory of the time her husband, actor Kim Seung-woo, called the cops when he couldn’t reach her.

On a recent taping of SBS Life’s show “Queen of Taste Kim Nam-joo” (episode 15), the actress walked viewers through her newly revamped studio kitchen, beaming over finally carving out a space of her own. “I’m overwhelmed―since getting married, this is the first place that’s just for me,” she said.

She added that moms will relate: having a room of one’s own is tough. “I wanted to be alone, but there was nowhere to go. Before I opened up my home like this, people wouldn’t have believed me,” she admitted, before laughing, “Can I even tell this story?”

Nam-joo recalled rehearsing lines in the tiny kitchen in their home. “When the kids were little, I felt so suffocated. With no personal space, I finally just checked into a hotel on a whim. I watched TV, ordered pho and other comfort food―it was heaven. I didn’t pick up my phone, and my husband ended up calling 112―the local emergency number―to report me missing,” she said with a laugh.

She stayed for a night and a day, until Kim Seung-woo showed up with their daughter, who’d been worried. “I told her, ‘Mom’s doing just fine here,’ and she immediately asked to order pho. We ate together,” Nam-joo said, turning the mini crisis into a family in-joke.

Episode 15 of “Queen of Taste Kim Nam-joo,” which also features Nam-joo taking a cooking class with Italian chef Theo, airs Thursday at 8:40 p.m. on SBS Life. A companion cut drops on her YouTube channel earlier that day at 11:45 a.m.
