"Generational Grudge" (working title) spins a comedic tale of a tradition-bound dad and his eldest son after a shaman warns that their ancestral spirits are furious. While the father scrambles to protect the family line, the son pushes for an exorcism―setting the stage for a brisk, laugh-filled clash of beliefs.
Jung plays the father, Yong-byeong, a man so determined to calm the ancestors that he’s ready to pour his life savings into a shamanic ritual. Expect a performance that balances straight-faced sincerity with sly, offbeat humor.
Lee portrays Bong-deok, a seven-time civil service exam retaker whose luck can’t get any worse. Fed up, he vows to banish the meddlesome ancestral spirit he blames for every setback―an audacious plan that serves as one of the film’s big crowd-pleasing hooks.
The supporting cast is stacked. Leading the ensemble is Kim Joo-ryoung, who drew global attention as Han Mi-nyeo in Netflix’s "Squid Game," alongside Kim Ah-young―fresh off SNL Korea and an SBS Excellence Award for "The Judge from Hell"―and EXID’s Park Jung-hwa, steadily building her acting resume.
Behind the camera is director Kim Sung-yoon, whose feature debut Fragments won the CGV Award and Chorokbaem Media Award at the 29th Busan International Film Festival. Fragments also earned strong notices abroad with official screenings at the 2025 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal and the New York Asian Film Festival.
"Generational Grudge" (working title) begins filming in early September, with a theatrical release eyed for 2026.
